"A human being is a part of the whole, called by us "Universe," a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."
“When wealth is passed off as merit, bad luck is seen as bad character. This is how ideologues justify punishing the sick and the poor. But poverty is neither a crime nor a character flaw. Stigmatise those who let people die, not those who struggle to live.”—Sarah Kendzior, A government shutdown, a social breakdown (via randomactsofchaos)
“Never apologize for how you feel. No one can control how they feel. The sun doesn’t apologize for being the sun. The rain doesn’t say sorry for falling. Feelings just are”— Iain S. Thomas, Intentional Dissonance (via awakenedvibrations)
“There are some things about myself that I can’t explain to anyone. There are some things I don’t understand at all. I can’t tell what I think about things or what I’m after. I don’t know what my strengths are or what I’m supposed to do about them. But if I start thinking about these things in too much detail, the whole thing gets scary. And if I get scared, I can only think about myself. I become really self-centered, and without meaning to, I hurt people. So I’m not such a wonderful human being.”—Haruki Murakami (via pro-paganda)
“Forgive yourself for not being at peace. The moment you completely accept your non-peace, your non-peace is transmuted into peace. Anything you accept fully will get you there, will take you into peace. This is the miracle of surrender.”—Eckhart Tolle (via katiekashmir)
“Do not allow yourself to suppress your thoughts. Instead, let the thoughts come before you and become a sort of observer. Start observing your own mind. Do not try to escape; do not be afraid of your thinking.”—Śri Swami Rama (via awakenedvibrations)
"Karma is intention; a movement of the mind that occurs each time we think, speak, or act. By being mindful of this process, we come to understand how intentions lead to habitual patterns of behavior, which in turn affect the quality of our experience."
Now thisssss is what karma means to me! Not an eye for an eye, a game of tag or some omnipresent person out there trying to punish you for a wrong deed.
“Overcome your uncertainties and free yourself from dwelling on sorrow. When you delight in existence, you will become a guide to those in need, revealing the path to many.”—Siddhartha Gautama (via elige)
I went to see Solange in concert last night and was blown away by her stage presence (no surprise there). I love her confidence and she just reminds me of someone I would be friends with.. she says stuff like “Aight yall we are about to turn this into a high school freak party, no one’s exempt” lol. So after singing through ‘True’ and some of her old stuff she hit us with this track “Stillness is the Move” which I had never heard before so I recorded it and did some research this morning. She covered this song by Dirty Projectors (never heard of them before) and I’m equally in love with BOTH versions. Her taste is very eclectic and that’s definitely a sign of true talent. Mind blown for reals. Anyway, check out the both of them below.
I made it to 8 miles this past weekend running/jogging at about an average 10:46 minutes per mile (about 5.7-5.8 mph). I’m trying my ultra hardest to kill all intoxication and shisha smoking habits until after the race, but it’s SO HARD! I’m hoping to push myself to 9.5 miles this weekend, lessssdoit
